Brent –
I’ve used this hat for a couple of races in very exposed areas in a lot of sun, without the front flap. It’s a light colour so doesn’t heat up and has heaps of venting. The back flap keeps the sun of the neck helping to prevent heat stroke. There is also a nice big fabric strip at the front to mop up the sweat from your brow.
The only negatives are that the flap is a little too light so gets blown around in the wind or maybe if I was faster, as I run. Also if you have a big head the hat might be a little tight with the flap fitted.
